Nesting Grounds Rules

1 Herbivores can only aggress and protect the nesting site. This does not give them the ability to be aggressive within the entire zone. 

a When chasing predators from the nesting site, they should not chase beyond LOS of the nesting site 

b Herbivore players must act with indifference to other ungrouped herbivores being attacked if an herbivore is engaged before the threat is noticed 

2 Once the young of a nesting pair hit Adolescent, the family is required to begin migrating as normal out of the location. 

a If the parents wish to rear more young, the new Adolescents should split off and form their own group while the parents stay behind in the nesting grounds to rear new young 

3 An herbie must claim a nest in order to nest. If there are no nests left to claim, herbivores may contest for a claimed nest by approaching the nest and 3 calling. The current nest owners will either 3 call back and initiate a nest contest or 4 call and must abandon the nest. 

a You may also contest for a nest that you feel is in a better position than your current one. b Once you have won a contest, you cannot contest for another nest for 1 hour. 

4 If an herbivore dies within the nesting grounds accidentally or by being hunted, herbivores may not corpse guard and must allow the carnivores to eat from the body. Once the carnivores are finished with the body, they must leave the area or face aggression from the herbivores. 

a Carnivores must claim any unclaimed bodies within the nesting site, they cannot ignore unclaimed corpses in favor of hunting

5 Herbivores that are not nesting (no young) within the grounds must follow normal rules pertaining to aggression and being hunted. You may not defend other groups being attacked but you can defend your personal space, following the personal space rules.  

6 Mandatory Behaviors are not set aside due to the nesting grounds (aside from Migrating) and will take priority over any situation that comes up. Herbivores are expected to act within the spectrum of realism by following the mandatory behaviors for their species. 

a When food becomes scarce, bush claiming & contests are allowed and must follow the normal herbivore contesting requirements
